Hello Winter, Bye 1. Semester

Well, ok not really here in London. It seems more like autumn, but still do I have already completely Christmas feeling ;)

And since the first semester of my first year is already over, it even feels better!
But not time for me to go home, I am still working as an Au Pair in the family and at the moment it works really god! I am flying home at 24. december and come back about the 10. january, not so sure at the moment...
But I am so happy and look forward to see my family again and cuddle my cats!!^^
I hope that next year I will have a bit more time for my blog again, I want to change some things, but not quiet sure what at the moment and in which direction I want to go -.-
But hopefully I have enough time to think about theat during the holiday...

So this was just a sign of life from me and now I am going to have dinner, watching a christmas movie (Probably "Polar Express"... who likes that film tooooo???^^)

no fun...!

The last week were really no fun and very stressful, that's why you didn't read anything new on my blog for a long time.
Not that nothing interesting happens, I just don't have the time to keep it up to date -.- so annoying!!

But with my studies everything is fine - exept, that I don't have so much time to do all the things I want to do... and I thought, that I have more time to read things I am interested in... but at the moment I have problems to keep up with the main readings because of all the assessments we are now starting to write.
My first one is a book review about the "destruction of the indies" - a very boring and too repetitive on.
Next friday we are writing a courswork in Spanish - means learning some more vocabulary^^ And then some essays.... we'll see, how it goes :)

But my main problem is acutally to be an Au Pair, I decided for myself, that I am not made for this. Even if the family contributes a part as well... no day without criticizing me or a dispute between the parents, loud and clearly.
I really need to find another work, or I get crazy. I really cannot do this anymore....
Sounds horrible, but good to know, that I am not on my own, a girl changed the family two times, but in the end flew home, because it was just too much.
Maybe all families in London are a bit strange? But for the Au Pair before seemed to work quiet well and I can hear this all the time "Hana here, Hana there, she was so good bla bla bla"!!!
I am nerved!! -.-

But one good thing I want to show: my room in the old house and now:

first week of a new life as a student :)

Here I want to make you jealouse now and show you my timetable for the first semester like I promised (on the right site^^) :)

The next week then started and since the first seminar I felt already like a real student^^ 

Here are my modules and the first "esperiences" with them, if anybody is interested :)

Oh and my Studies are called "International Relations and Spanish".

1. Area Studies (Spainish-Speaking World - from Empire to Revolution): we are starting with Columbus and the conquest of America (just watching "Conquest to paradise" :). Even if I felt like in history class, with reading texts and discussing them (Damn! there was a scottish girl and I had so problems to understand her accent^^)

2. Spanish Language Development: Our lecturer just started to talk Spanish, no word English, we were all a bit shocked at the first time, but actually it's really cool. He is from Cuba and I really need to get to used to his accent, he doesn't pronounce some "s" like in "Espana", which sounds then more like "Epana", what makes it sometimes a bit hard to follow while guessing what he meant... but well, it just can get better....

3./4. Introduction to the Politics and Society in Developing Countries (Seminar and Lecture): So very interesting module, because I was actually thinking about studying "International Development"^^, we just had some introduction words and the lecture was about "what is Development", like economic growth but human development as well and how to measur it, really interesting!

5./6. Introduction to International Relations: actually the same like the Development module, an introduction into this module and the topics we are dealing with. Just a bit unfortunate, that the lecture is so late... I was pretty tired and had a hard time to concentrate the last half hour -.-

7. Firday is just the second class of the Spanish language development :)

So what do you think? Did you had/Do you have more or less the same hours or more (or even less?)

I am pretty happy with it, because at the moment it works quiet good with my au pair job, but we already decided, that I am looking for something else, because it's not going to work out for long (when I need to write coursworks, like essays and so on....)

Yeah, call me student, girl!

For 2 weeks now I am officially a student at the University of Westminster - boooya! :)

The first week was just the orientation week and most of the time we had to wait... First the enrolment, checking my A-level certificate (my German Abitur), checking the status of my payment and then taking a photo for my super cool student card :)

Then we had to go to the language screening. It was one big room with tables next to each other and papers over it saying "Spanish" or "German". After we got a paper in which language we need to be screened, we needed to wait for our turn. Then I went to the Spanish table. I was greeted with a nice "Hola" and already found myself in a spanish conversation telling a bit about my travel to Barcelona. Then I had to write a short text and after that I could call myself "intermediate in Spanish" :) (everything lower would have been disappointed!^^)

Then there was a welcome "lecture" about the department (Languages) and then the first day was already over.

The second day was just about the module registration, which was actually pretty hard. I wanted to choose one or two more modules as possible^^ I just hope, that next year there are the same interesting modules!^^

On friday we collected our timetables and solved any problems with it. Fortunately my timetable looks quiet good, monday off, wednesday and friday just a few hours, just tuesday and friday going to be long days, but that's ok :)

Ups and Downs

Now I am already one week in London and the last days I hadn't many things to do, because the mother is at home and so I have to look for the boy just from time to time a bit.

Enough time to discover the area, study a bit Spanish again and prepare everything for university.

At the moment I am looking for the best student account, very difficult! Actually on the internet you just find bad opinions about every bank, but well, what should I do? I need one -.- So hopefully I am not getting in horrible trouble with that. I am applying for an account at HSBC now.

Next step is a student Oyster card. I was very surprised, at the moment I have a normal card, uploaded 10 pounds, after one trip to Central London and back, 9 pounds where already gone!!!
Horrible expensive, I really should start to look for a bike -.-

Last sunday I spend nearly the whole day outside, there was a meetup (www.meetup.com) at Regent's Park to play a bit volleyball and we played nearly the wole afternoon! That was good fun, after that day I really hat sore muscles everywhere... first time after a year and my operation at the foot that I did sport^^

And I am still applying for other jobs, if it's not going to work - to study and being an au pair. I already got some negative replies, but no choice to give up^^ 

I am afraid, that's all for today, I am going to write some more applications (fingers already bruning^^) and hoping for the best!

First days in London

Since last wednesday I am now in London and have to take care of the little boy from my host family.
At the moment he is having is nap. I have to admit, I miss my family and home at the moment more than the first time at my Europe trip... I do not really know why, maybe because I just spent three weeks at home in Germany, or because I don't know, if I can really fly back in february to my mother's birthday....

The first day I actually started immediately to care for him, I brought him together with the mother to bed and red him a little story, the next day we played all the morning together, the afternoon I had off and I spent the rest of the day to walk a bit around the area.

So the next two weeks I am going to be a full-time au pair, then the orientation week of my university starts and I'll see after the enrolment, if it still fits or if I need to find another accommodation and work...cross your fingers!! :)

So maybe this or next week I'll start to go out a bit more, when I know more about my "future" and so on...
I really hate it, to sit here now and don't know anything -.- Do you know what I mean?

Endlich wieder da...

Nach 5 Wochen Abwesenheit bin ich nun wieder im Lande mit regelmäßigem Zugang zum Internet.
1. Aufgabe: meinen Blog aktualisieren^^
Vieles hat sich getan: Zum einen habe ich meine Ausbildung zum "interkulturellen Jugendleiter" erfolgreich beendet und die schriftliche Abschlussprüfung hinter mich gebracht... Voraussichtlich am 17. Jänner werde ich die mündliche haben und dann bin ich FREI^^

Was ich danach mache? Steht noch in den Sternen >.< Ich warte noch auf eine Mail von einer englischen Universität. Australien hat sich wegen den Finanzen ja leider komplett erledigt... Und wenn alle Stricke reißen mach ich erstmal eine kleine Sprachrundreise durch Europa (Irland - Frankreich - Italien - Spanien) und geh dann normal ab Wintersemester studieren. Was? Mal sehen^^
Leider gibt es an österreichischen Unis immer Auswahltests, was ein wenig problematisch werden könnte, wenn ich eigentlich garnicht vor hab zu diesen Zeiten daheim zu sein...

Wir werden sehen, erstmal warte ich auf die Mail, dann ist Weihnachten und dann Sivester... um mal mit Etwas positivem zu enden :)

Da war ich Dienstag also nur bei der Sparkasse um mir sagen zu lassen, dass die keine Studienkredite vergeben! Meine Beraterin meinte, dass ich dann über die kfw-Bank probieren soll. Hab ich auch angerufen - ABER: die fördern kein komplettes Auslandsstudium! Super - die Idee also auch gestorben, so langsam bin ich dann doch am verzweifeln... dachte ech nicht, dass es sooo kompliziert wird.
Im Notfall muss ich mir einen normalen Kredit nehmen, muss ich nur jemanden finden, der für mich birgt, da ich als Student ja kein festes Einkommen habe und Sicherheiten nachweisen kann -.-

Bin gespannt!

Heut habe ich den Termin mit der Sparkasse meines Vertrauens bezüglich eines Studienkredites, bzw Bildungsfinanzierung, wie sich das glaube bei denen schimpft^^

Ich hoffe, es wird nicht so schwierig, zu teuer und zu ungünstig für mein Studium, da ich ja nach den drei Jahren Bachelor eigentlich nicht vorhab gleich arbeiten zu gehen und Geld zu verdienen, sondern noch einen Master dranhängen möchte...

ANGENOMMEN!!!

Nun bin ich offiziell bei La Trobe University in Australien angenommen!! Ich kann es kaum glauben!
Da ich meinen TOEFL-Test mehr oder weniger ver****t hatte und mir im reading part zwei Punkte gefehlt hatten, hatte ich eigentlich kaum noch Hoffnung, dass es doch noch klappt....

Eigentlich beginnt das wirklich anstengende ja jetzt.... wie finanzier ich das ganze denn erstmal überhaupt?^^
Darüber hatte ich mir ja noch nicht wirklich gedanken gemacht, sondern erstmal abgewartet, ob es überhaupt klappt^^ Und jetzt bin ich dabei mich durch den Jungle von Bildungsfonds und Studienkrediten zu schlagen.
Nächsten Dienstag hab ich erst mal einen Termin mit der Sparkasse meines Vertrauens und werde dort mal wegen einem Kredit beraten... Irgendetwas muss ja klappen!^^

London Calling

Jetz isses fest! Am 11. September geht es für mich nach London! Eine Woche - Intensivsprachkurs... als kleine Vorbereitung noch auf meinen anstehenden TOEFL-Test am 17. September.

Eher kurzfristig entschieden beim Gespräch mit meiner Personalchefin um den Durchlaufplan für den Rest meiner Ausbildung durch zugehen :)
Ja vielleicht wenig schlechtes Timing, wenn man an die Kravalle in London denkt, aber da kann ich ja nichts dafür -.-  es wird ja auch langsam ruhiger, da kann man ja Hoffnung haben, dass es bis in einem Monat wieder soweit vorbei ist^^

Ich hatte übrigens die letzten zwei Tage diesen tollen "Bundespolizeivirus" auf meinem heiß geliebten Netbook. Kennt ihr den? Da wird der ganze Rechner komplett geblockt mit der Nachricht, dass man pornografische frag mich was auf dem Rechner... man soll an "Ukash" 100 € überweisen und alles ist wieder in Ordnung.
Mal ehrlich - wer fällt denn auf sowas ein?! Hat mein liebes Bruderherzel mein Netbook platt und wieder neu gemacht - ein glück ich surf mit dem Teil größtenteils nur im Inet und hab nicht so viele wichtigen Daten drauf...

Auswertung Wochenende

I don't feel I've accomplished very much this weekend - Ich hab nicht das Gefühl, dass ich viel erreicht habe dieses Wochenende

So viel zu meinem Englisch lernen :) Dabei war ich wenigstens fleißig - mehr oder weniger^^ *Man begutachte mein Lern-Post-It an der Wand meines Bades^^

Also wenn ich mir das Wort consider jetzt nicht langsam merke, dann weiß ich auch nicht :/ Aber mir fallen doch recht viele Vokabeln auf, bei denen ich mir in der Bedeutung nicht ganz sicher bin -.- das nervt! Aber wenigstens bin ich im Raten der richtigen Antworten einigermaßen passabel, was die Fragen im TOEFL Buch angehen.

Ich hab dann letzte Woch auch übrigens mein übersetztes und belgaubigten Zeugnis erhalten (für sage und schreibe 90 Okken!!) und meinen neuen Reisepass geholt :)

Hab ich dann alles sofort eingescannt und an meine freundliche Zuständige von studiuminaustralien.com geschickt, sie leitet das dann sofort weiter.

Sie hat mir auch Mut gemacht und gemeint, solang ich den TOEFL-Test besteh, sollte es keinen Grund zur Sorge geben, dass ich nicht angenommen werd *hihi* Also werd ich jetz täglich wie ne Bekloppte lernen. Hab mir extra Vokablen auf mein Handy geschmissen, damit ich auch unterwegs und in den Pausen auf Arbeit büffeln kann^^ Mei ich bin jetz schon aufgeregt, obwohl es noch garnicht feststeht, ob es überhaupt klappt^^

Ok, jetz erstmal kurz meine Auswertung meiner ToDo-List:

[ x ] mind. 4 Stunden Englisch üben/lernen
[ ] meiner Brieffreundin antworten -> Brief liegt schon aufn Tisch^^
[ ] Päckchen für meine Leutz in Frankreich fertig machen (Spreewaldgurken, Cottbuser Kekse und Postkarten von Cottbus) -> nächste Woche^^
[ ] Endlich mal einen Reisebericht hier online stellen -> auch nächsste Woche, oder heut abend noch...
[ ] 1. Beitrag zu meiner "Sozialen Serie" -> hab schon angefangen, kommt morgen on :)
[ x ] Spider-Man 2 gucken^^ -> bin noch dabei^^
[ x ] an den Unterseiten weiterarbeiten -> ein bisschen hab ich geschafft^^

Des Weiteren habe ich aber noch hier meinen kleinen Shop eröffnet, bei dem ich alles verkaufe, was ich nicht mehr brauch, aber noch im Guten Zustand ist ;) Also mal vorbei schauen!

Dann noch was für mich GANZ WICHTIGES!!

I consider the word "consider" difficult

Oh man, es gibt viele Worte im Englischen, die kann man ja leicht ableiten, oder man weiß die grobe Bedeutung, wenn auch nicht die genauere Übersetzung...
Und dann gibt es Wörter wie "consider", bei dem ich jedesmal erstmal überlegen muss in welchem Context es jetzt was heißt... beachten, betrachten, berücksichtigen, überlegen oder doch halten??

Ich glaub ich schreib mir das Wort auf ein Post-it und klebs mir an die gegenüberliegende Wand meiner Toilette *narv*

So langsam geht's voran

Ich habe gestern meine neue Anmeldung für mein Onlinebanking - mein geliebtes Onlinebanking!! erhalten und meine MasterCard *schicke Karte!* und hab natürlich sofort losgelegt mit überprüfen von Kontobewegungen (alles im Grünen^^) und Überweisungen.

Das Geld für mein Zeugnis zur beglaubigten Übersetzung ist abgeschickt. Sobald das Geld angekommen ist, sollte sobald gleich demnächst das Dokument in mein E-Mail-Postfach flattern.
Und die Anmeldung für den TOEFL-Test ist auch abgeschickt und bezahlt *bibber*
Countdown bis zum 17. September!! Mensch, die Idee... ich werd mal einen Countdown reinstellen^^ Muss mich ja ständig erinnern, damit ich mit dem Vorbereiten und Übem auch dran bleib :)

So langsam wird es Richtung Studium in Australien doch spannend^^

Der TOEFL-Test = PANIK!

Da ich ja für ein Auslandsstudium ja dringend einen Sprachnachweis benötige, habe ich mich für den TOEFL-Test entschieden, da er für mich am "sympathischsten" wirk und am weitesten verbreitet ist.
Da ich das Gefühl hab mich intensivt darauf vorbereiten zu müssen, habe ich mir auch das Buch "Official Guide to the TOEFL" zugelegt.
Gestern kam ich dazu mal reinzuschnuppern und dachte gleich auf den ersten Blick: den schaff ich niemals!!! Zumindest nicht so, dass es für die Anforderungen eines Studiums im Ausland reicht -.- (durchfallen kann man ja in dem Sinne nicht...) und hab sofort über alternativen nachgedacht^^

Ich habe die englische Sprache noch nie so intensiv benutzen müssen, nur mal in ner Woche Urlaub in Finnland...
Ja, ich hatte zwar Englisch Leistungskurs in der Schule, aber auch nur ne 3 aufm Zeugnis hingezaubert. Ich weiß, dass ich mit "akademischen" Texten eher so meine Probleme habe, aber da werd ich wohl nich drumrum kommen, wenn ich wirklich auf dauer ins Ausland will...

Ich versuch das jetzt knallhart durch zu ziehen! Ich werd mich einfach jeden Tag ein, zwei Stunden hinsetzten und intensivst dafür üben, dann müsste ich doch die Punkte schaffen^^

Das Problem mit dem lieben Geld

Ich gehöre ja zu den mordernen Onlinebankern und logge mich eigentlich fast täglich ein.
Als ich dieses jedoch letzte Woche bei meinem Praktikum in Frankreich versuchte, geling mir das leider nicht, da die französischen Tastaturen etwas anders gestrickt sind...
Als ich diesen Montag zum Berater meines Vertrauen gegangen bin, hat Sie es mir wieder freigeschalten und gesagt, ich könne mich wieder normal einloggen - denkste! Ging nicht! Bin ich am gestrigen Mittwoch wieder hingelaufen und habe es diesmal Vorort probiert... hat mekwürdigerweise auch nicht geklappt.
Als wir beider halb verzweifelt sind, haben wir beschlossen mir ne ganz neue Anmeldung zu geben, nur dauert es mit der neuen Tan-Liste wieder 2 bis 3 Tage...

Eigentlich steh ich ja völlig unter Zeitdruck, da ich endlich mal die gute Fee bezahlen müsste, die mir mein Abiturzeugnis beglaubigt übersetzt fürs Studium...
Ach und eine Masterkart habe ich auch beatragt (soll in einer Woche dasein), damit ich mich für den TOEFL-Test anmelden kann. Ich würd ihn gern noch im August ablegen, ich hoffe, dass wird nicht zu knapp und dann gibt es keine Plätze mehr!!
Und auf meinen neuen Reisepass warte ich auch noch -.-

Tjaja... so ist das mit den kurzfristigen Planänderungen im Leben^^ Aber ich bleib Optimist! :)
